While the Peptify.App Calculator does the heavy lifting, every researcher should understand the basic math behind the scenes. Understanding concentration prevents fatal dosing errors. Review our peptide reconstitution guide for the physical steps.
The Magic Formula
Result is usually in mg/ml
Step-by-Step Example
Let's say you have a 5mg vial of BPC-157.
5mg ÷ 1ml = 5 mg/ml
This is a very strong solution. 0.1ml (10 units) would be 500mcg. Check mcg vs mg conversion if this is confusing.
5mg ÷ 2ml = 2.5 mg/ml
This is a standard dilution. 0.1ml (10 units) would be 250mcg.
5mg ÷ 5ml = 1 mg/ml
This is a weak solution. You would need to inject 0.25ml (25 units) to get 250mcg. This might be useful for very precise micro-dosing.
Calculating the Draw
Once you know the concentration (e.g., 2.5 mg/ml) and your desired dose (e.g., 0.5 mg), you divide:
0.5 mg ÷ 2.5 mg/ml = 0.2 ml
0.2 ml = 20 Units on a U-100 Syringe. Make sure you are reading an insulin syringe accurately.
