Exporting Your Research Data: Why JSON Backups Matter

Data sovereignty means being able to take your data with you. How to backup Peptify.App.

Quick Answer

JSON exports provide a universal, text-based backup of your data. This ensures you are never locked into the Peptify.App app and can move your research history to any device or other compatible software.

  • Universal data format.
  • Readable text file.
  • Allows manual backups.

Because Peptify.App is local-only, your data lives in your browser. If you clear your browser cache or lose your phone, your data could be lost. This is a tradeoff of track protocols without an account.

The Backup Routine

We recommend a weekly backup routine. See why local-first research data relies on this.

  1. Go to Settings tab.
  2. Scroll to Backup Database.
  3. Tap to download a `.json` file.
  4. Save this file to a secure location (e.g. encrypted drive, secure cloud storage). Avoid risks of cloud health trackers by storing it offline.

This JSON file contains your entire history: Subjects, Protocols, and Logs. It is a plain text format that is open and readable, ensuring you are never locked into a proprietary system. You can also use it for visualizing dosing charts in other tools.
